Look what I found... Starmobile updates its entry level smartphones.

Lets start of with Starmobile Play Club. This smartphone brings style for the budget. For only 2,690 you get Android KitKat with customize-able themes that matches the pop of color of its case in red, blue, yellow and black. No word on display size. I have a feeling it will have 4 inch WVGA so that it will be easier to carry around or pocket-friendly. Under the hood, it has Dual Core Mediatek MT6572 Processor coupled with 512MB RAM and only 4GB Internal Storage. Just fixed focus camera here with 5MP Rear with LED Flash and VGA on the  Front. Quoted for up to 7 hours talk, up to 200 hours standby with its 1400mAh Battery.

Another entry level but packs power is Starmobile Jump Max. Go max with its huge battery of 3000mAh that will sure to get you through the day or two for up to 15 hours talk time and 400 hours standby time than other smartphones. It also runs Android 4.4 KitKat on a bigger display on 4.5 inch Display  with FWVGA resolution. It does have the same hardware as Play Club - Dual Core Mediatek, 512MB RAM / 4GB Internal Storage including Fixed Focus 5MP Rear and VGA front Camera. Priced for 3,690 pesos.

Both devices packs WiFi, Bluetooth , GPS and HSPA+ data connection.

Overall, both phones are entry level obviously pointed out by their specifications. Just targets value customers where price is driving force paired with either fashion / style or for the need of battery life. Takes cares the need but little of want.

Asus Zenfone 5 Lite A502CG - Mighty Lite

Asus just announced the Lite version of its best selling Zenfone 5.

The new Lite version looks like the original so you will still have that premium executive chrome as well as sexy curvature. Though it must be noted that Asus had cut back on color options with only Black, White and Red.

As it is to say a cut-down version, Zenfone 5 Lite still has 5 inch IPS TruVivid Laminated Display but it resolution is down to qHD and Intel Inside with Atom™ Z2520 Dual-Core Processor clocked 1.2 GHz coupled with only 1GB RAM. No storage is listed on Asus Philippines website but with reference to what is available in India then presumably 8GB with MicroSD Expansion up to 64GB and comes with 5GB free lifetime ASUS WebStorage.

Primary rear camera stays at 8MP supported LED Flash however with its front it only has VGA to work with. You do have PixelMaster technology that gives you various modes and options to take your shots and videos to the next level.

The rich and simple ZenUI is another thing to consider that works well together with Android KitKat adding other value-added touches and features.

For connectivity, it packs the same as the original Zenfone 5 that comes with its Dual "Zentenna" for more reliable connections. Higher bandwidth data connection with up to 42Mbps (downloads) DC-HSPA+. Standard things as WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Supports Dual SIM/Standby so more network choices in one device.

The major thing that Asus improved with its Zenfone 5 Lite is the battery upgrade to 2500mAh versus 2110mAh on the first Zenfone 5. Together with the modest cuts, the Lite version will last more hours of usage so more fun, moments, and phone calls.

To conclude, Zenfone 5 Lite is a great follow through with the success of Asus Mobile division. Asus took the positives of Zenfone design, hardware and software and improved battery life. It might be lite but still it proves to be a mighty champion. Hopefully price competitively. Perfect timing for Chirstmas.

LG F70 - Budget Android KitKat, LTE and Big Battery

Look what I stumbled on, LG F70 LTE for as low as 6,490 Pesos!!!

LG most affordable LTE handset with Android 4.4.1 KitKat on board on a modest 4.5 inch WVGA IPS Display. Humble as it seems it is still powered by a reliable 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 coupled with 1GB RAM. Still need to verify if 4GB or 8GB internal storage variant basing on Australia and Singapore neighbors points to 4GB.

For its camera, it features a basic 5MP primary rear camera supported by single LED Flash and for its front, VGA. Expect decent shots and quality videos but it depends on your photographic eye after all in the end.

On the flip side, LG F70 offers wide range of connectivity features other than Long-Term Evolution data but also the standarrd WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS including NFC.

With its basic specifications and Snapdragon processor, it should perform at optimal level with 2440mAh battery.

Other unique software enhancements and features like Knock Code Security and Plu and Pop is available.

Overall, for an entry level LTE smartphone its hardware - low resolution IPS display, Snapdragon 400 and big energy pack works harmoniously to provide balance smartphone experience.
