LG is on a role from Dual Screen X Screen and now the Stylus 2. Guess they took out the G naming to make it simple.
We are presented with a huge but slim smartphone with glass fiber panel upfront. Rounded sides and curved corners that provides good handling and grip although frame is chrome but it is not necessarily metal. LG Stylus 2 comes in simple Glossy White and in executive Concentric Brushed Metal Black and Brown colors.
Ports are located at the bottom of the device with 3.5mm audio jack and the MicroUSB. Sides are clean of anything as LG Stylus 2 panel of controls - power/lock and volume rocker are situated at the back together with its rear camera. On top lies only the Stylus pen. The Back cover can be removed to be able to access the MicroSD slot and Dual Sim Slots.
LG Stylus 2 carries a big 5.7 inch HD Display which is great for viewing movies, games as well as note-taking and doodling. There are no capacitive controls but on Screen navigation controls takes a little part of the screen. With the Philippine Model, we get the 1.2GHz Quad-Core variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB Internal Storage. No word yet on what processor but I assume it packs the Snapdragon 410. There's a dedicated microSD slot if you ever need more storage.
Equipped with 13MP primary rear camera with LED Flash and 8MP front camera. Focus and colors are on point with acceptable clarity and detail as can be seen with Focus test below. Per Exif of rear camera, it has f/2.2 aperture which is better than that of LG own X Screen.
As for front camera, it also did a good job capturing my selfie but most likely similar to that of X Screen really need good lighting conditions otherwise just so so in low light conditions.
Full set of connectivity features are available like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. Ultra-fast LTE assures you speedy downloads and uploads (depends on network that is). This is a Dual Sim handset.
Finally, its major feature the Stylus pen with 2.5 sensitivity compared to 3.5 on the old G4 Stylus. Let me be frank, its pen features are similar with that of Samsung Note 5 such as Screen Off Memo as well as Pen icon popping out when you eject the Pen. Other features include Pop Memo - making notes and scribbles on screen; Pop Scanner - scanning covers of magazine and newspaper straight and Calligraphy Pen Mode for more creative Typography.
Oh LG Stylus 2 carries a 3000mAh Removable battery which should be enough considering its not so power hungry specification.
To conclude, LG Stylus 2 is a budget Note Taking smartphone. It's not as powerful as the Samsung Galaxy Note5 but it offers a near experience to it with acceptable internals, camera and connectivity features for only 11,990 Pesos!
