Gionee Elife E7 Mini - Octa-Core 13MP Selfie SmartPhone

Gionee Philippines just announced via their Facebook - Gionee Elife E7 Mini.

By the looks of it, it appears to be rectangular plastic slab with rounded at the top and bottom. Seen also is a swivel camera that can easily turn to be use as rear or front camera. It has a 4.7 inch 720p HD IGZO (By Sharp) Display which gives you high pixel density, vivid colors, crisp image and text quality and great viewing angles.

It is a Mini but it packs a powerhouse of 1.7GHz Octa-Core Processor by Mediatek with Mali450-MP4 GPU. Memory is at 1GB RAM and comes with 16GB of Internal Storage but sadly NO microSD slot for storage expansion.

For its connectivity features, it is equipped with the regulars such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ data connectivity. It is a Dual-Sim Dual Standby Smartphone so you can have access to two networks.

Moving to software side of things, E7 Mini runs on Amigo 2.0 a customized version of Android 4.2 that makes use of only homescreen for displaying your contents/apps (yeah, more like iOS) and comes with tons of animations and transitions.

Main selling point is the Swivel 13MP Camera with LED Flash (like OPPO N1). With just a turn capture moments with great detail Back or Front. You are sure to get amazing selfies with this one as well as quality video-chats compared to other phones.

Battery is just only 2200mAh so with minimal use you get through the day or two but with moderate or heavy usage, might I suggest a powerbank.

To warp things up, the Elife E7 Mini is a great handy camera phone whether back or front you get the high pixel quality captures. Pocket-able and also powerful, a Bite Size Monster. Gionee really focused on riding the selfie revolution and it might succeed.

Cherry Mobile Pulse Series

Look what we have here:

Here is the New Pulse series by Cherry Mobile.

The Pulse packs 5 inch HD IPS Display with Dragontrail protection powered by full pledge 1.7GHz Octa-Core Mediatek Processor together with 8GB of Internal storage and 1GB RAM. Optics features a 13MP Back Camera with LED Flash and 5MP Front.

Next is the Pulse Mini that comes with entry level specs - 4 inch WVGA IPS Display powered by Dual-Core Processor with 4GB Internal storage and 512MB RAM. Basic camera with 5MP Back/VGA front.

Both device does have the same connectivity features as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS as well as HSPA+ data connectivity.

For power, Pulse has a 2000mAh Battery while Pulise Mini is still undisclosed.

The Pulse Mini is priced for 2,699.00 and Pulse is at 6,499.00 which makes it cheapest Octa-Core offering of Cherry Mobile.

To wrap things up, I have expected this much from key players in the market introducing Budget Octa-Core. Cherry Mobile Pulse is highly competitive in terms of specs with HD Drgontrail and high pxiel cameras (interpolated me thinks) But it will surely perform with MTK6592 Processor versus the mobile version on MyPhone Infinity Lite. Nothing to say much on the entry-level Pulse Mini. Excited to see much on the clash of Octa-Cores and so the battle is now set in motion.

Antutu Benchmark Pulse:

Cherry Mobile Pulse is a powerhouse with 29K/30K score . Performance is well above other octa-core and international brand smartphones. This may well because of Android KitKat that is optimized for performance for Pulse.

Spotted: Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+

Idol X+ has risen, Alcatel refreshes its flagship with a Plus.

The new Idol comes with a brand new look with spin-like finish and curved metallic frames. Though I think they was inspired by the iPhone aesthetics.Moving on,  the device carries a 5 inch Full HD IPS Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 offering strong, scratch-resistance as well as quality viewing pleasures.

The Plus might refer to added power with added cores as it is powered with Mediatek MT6592 Octa-Core Processor clocked at 2GHz with Mali450-MP4 GPU coupled by 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB Internal storage (expandable via microSD). Certainly the chipset boost performance and guarantees fluid Android and  smooth gaming experience.

Connectivity features your regular WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. Does have that higher bandwidth data connectivity with download speed of 42Mbps though upload speed has been redduced to only 5Mbps from 11Mbps of Idol X. Data speed really depends on your service provider even when you pack the advance modem if your network just limits you with up to 2Mbps.

Same old 13MP/2MP combo for its camera features. Does have LED Flash to support the rear camera for low-light conditions.

It packs an 2500mAh battery. It is bigger by 500mAh but it is a non-removable sacrifice.

The Alcatel Idol X+ is just an update on its flagship bring more core and more power and retaining some key qualities like display, connectivity and camera features. One thing that could hurt sale of this phone is pricing which cost 17,550.00, so steep compared to what local brands offer or even to Xiaomi Mi3. It is rather late so I suggest Alcatel should do some cuts or be left out.

If you want Idol X+ it is available via cmkcellphones.com

Optical features with its 8MP BSI Primary Back Camera F2.0 Aperture, 4cm Micro Lens and is 28mm wide angle supported by LED Flash and 5MP Front F2.4 Aperture, 22mm wide angle, and 1.4um high pixel sensor. Blue Glass filter is applied to its main camera like that of Huawei Flagship P7. Battery is at 2300mAh.

Huawei Honor 3x, on the other hand has 5.5 inch HD IPS Display powered by 1.7GHz Octa-Core Mediatek 6592 with Mali-450MP4 GPU together with 2GB RAM and also an 8GB/16GB Internal storage (expandable). For its camera, it packs a 13MP stack-type camera with F2.2 aperture with LED Flash and also packs the same 5MP of 3C. Battery is at 3000mAh.

Both device share connectivity features such as the regular WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ data connectivity. On the software side, they run Android 4.2.2 Jellybean with Emotion UI 2.0 that comes with phone management features and other additional services. Huawei also promised a KitKat Upgrade for this two popular devices.

Overall, Huawei is gearing for a fight to the Top. With competition bringing the big guns at more competitive price, it seems this top manufacturer is going for a head-on collision. Full package of quality display, hardware, and high-grade camera sensors makes Honor 3C and 3X top notch. No wonder it got sold out on other Asian Markets.

Today 8/18/2014, Huawei launched the two but then again it was already spotted via import or via local retailers.
