Unboxing and First Impressions of Asus Newest Battery King Zenfone Max Pro (M1)

Asus got a new Battery King! and it is a beast! Zenfone Max Pro (M1)...

Here is our very quick unboxing video featuring Zenfone Max Pro (M1).

So far it has the same aesthetics and design as that of Zenfone Max M1. Comes with premium executive looks and solid built but still slim even while carrying a 5000mAh Battery. Compared to all glass of some smartphone models, I prefer the metallic built than dual glass for it can withstand a beating.

Yet similar in design but different in some way... Max Pro M1 3.5mm jack is located on the bottom part of the smartphone together with it MicroUSB Port, Speaker and Microphone. The left side lies the Sim card and microSD slot while on the right is Volume rocker and Power/Lock Button. Only a microphone pinhole is located at the top of the device. Fingerprint sensor is located on the back which we also prefer for faster unlocking.

The 6 inch 18:9 Full HD+ Display on the front is really something with nice color reproduction and good contrast, you will really enjoy playing your movies and games on this smartphone. and with bigger battery, guess it time to get ready for that non stop movie marathon or conquer the mobile gaming arena.

Booting it up, we were surprised it started so fast and optimized the system very quick. If you are used to ZenUI, then you might find it different as Zenfone Max Pro uses Stock Android Oreo with Added Unique Features. Yet with Stock Android, the system is more fluid and smooth as we were using the phone and navigating through its UI.

For first impressions, ZenFone Max is a promising Battery King with minimalist design matched with slim profile converging with no frills stock Android, very responsive and optimized plus carrying a massive battery. Featuring Dual Bokeh Camera setup, Zenfone Max Pro is not left out in terms of photography and video. Quite sure people will appreciate the Zenfone Max Pro (M1) for its versatility even demanding consumers will find it as a great choice for their next smartphone buy.

Asus Zenfone Max M1 Review Price Specs Philippines

Hi Geeks! Here is our review of the new Asus Zenfone Max M1!

Let's open up the Blue Stylish box and see the incredible Zenfone Max M1.

We get the unit and accessories from charger, cable, and headset as well as Manual, warranty cards and uuhh a clear case.

Zenfone Max M1 is beautiful to hold with its executive feel and slim profile. On the left side lies the sim and microSD dedicated slot while on the right is the volume rocker and power/lock buttom. At the top of the smartphone is the headphone jack and on the bottom is microUSB port and speaker grills. Fingerprint Sensor is on the back which we do prefer so as we can easily unlock the phone using our index finger.

Zenfone Max M1 is has a solid metal build and we got to test how sturdy it is as we had an accidental drop as we were taking product photos about 5 feet above the ground and it fell on side and slide on rough concrete surface. Screen got minor scratch and we have a bump on the side. It endured the ordeal with the glass still intact so i like that it has still a thin layer that protects the glass.

At 5.5 inch HD+ 18:9 Aspect ratio IPS Display fit for gaming and entertainment. Powered by Snapdragon 430 with Adreno 505 graphics matched with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage (at least 25GB available for users), ZenFone Max M1 is no push over in terms of performance and gaming. Antutu is at 55178 score and ML, PUBG and other games is smooth and playable at decent gameplay. Storage can be expandable via MicroSD.

On the Camera side, ZenFone Max M1 has great optics with dual rear camera setup at 13MP standard angle lens plus its 8MP wide angle camera. Upfront is a 13MP Selfie Camera also supported with LED Light.

We were quite surprise as we were able to take the whole gateway ceiling as well as whole Hotel H2O plus subjects even as we are only feet away. So far focus is quick but sometimes we get a cooler shot with wide angle shot.

Standard Lens is also great with attention to detail and quick focus and accurate color. Below is food and macro shot (without macrolens).

as for low light and night... just make sure enough light source if not then you may have grainy shots.

For Selfies, it is quite obvious that front camera takes better shots same as the rear camera.

For its price, Zenfone Max M1 camera performs great! Focus is quick, accurate color reproduction, sharp and has eye for detail. Per exif it is revealed Zenfone Max M1 wide lens has focal length at 1.57mm vs 1.78 of Zenfone 5Q and 1.88mm on Zenfone 5 which mean it has widest coverage compared to its higher siblings. It selfie is not a let down too as it can take high resolution 13MP shots. However, we were only disappointed to find out that is has limited camera modes with only Auto, Beauty, Panorama, Timelapse plus HDR and Portrait Mode. Wished Asus installed Night HDR and PRO mode even with limited shutter controls. Hopefully Asus will give these features via next firmware update.

Zenfone Max M1 has near complete connectivity features with WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and Dual Sim cards with dedicated slots for both sims. For direct connection and charding is via MicroUSB port as well as for USB-OTG. Same goes as for the sensors which makes AR and VR enabled.

ASUS ZenUi is clean and now has lesser bloatwares. Although we experienced some bugs like Bluetooth is on even after reboot. Fingerprint is not responsive. Hopefully again they solve it via firmware update. We like it has some management tools like Mobile Manager and Power Master to efficiently run and clean your system according to your liking.

Comes with 4000mAh Battery that supports fast charge. It took us more less 2 and half hours to fully charge to get 100% battery. Battery life at moderate usage can last a day or two and last longer with WiFi but with games and data it well be between 5-8 hours which would also depend if straight usage or with breaks haha. Reverse Charging is support so you could charge other devices via USB-OTG.

For 8,995 Pesos, Asus Zenfone Max M1 is a total performer that has the charm, performance, efficiency, battery life and to say has the best camera setup for Max Series.
