Argomall Shares 2019 Predications for Smartphone Tech Scene

Last 2018, brought about new innovations from slimmer phones, new security features, and advance optics and internal hardware. This 2019 we expect more exciting releases and updates that would propel smartphones to new heights. Argomall.com shares some of their predications for 2019.

No More Bezels?

In 2018, we seen flaunt literally an all-screen display however for 2019 we may get more of screen setup and notch placements moving to rid of bezels in smartphones.
More smartphone brands will be following what Chinese smartphone manufacturers Oppo and Vivo did -- smartphones with simple, bezel-less, and a real all-screen display.

Eye Catchers

Apart from real all-screen displays, we can also look forward to seeing foldable screens. This is in addition to the already existing dual display technology.  WIth more screen means less space to put different hardware, upcoming smartphones will carry face unlock technology and in-display fingerprint unlocking.

Longer Battery Life

With bigger screens of course it means bigger demand for battery capacity. Expect more smartphones with even larger stamina which can be fueled faster and more efficiently. Fast charging technology is also expected to become mainstream this year.

Amazing Connection
Micro-USB connectors might be phased out because it will be replace with USB-Type C Ports for fast-charging technology as well as paving the way for advance direct connections. Wireless connection as well as Bluetooth will be improved for most smartphones. With Apple introducing wireless listening with the iPhone 7, 3.5mm jacks might be gone sooner than later to bring Android users the same music experience.

Stronger internals

Smartphone manufacturers are sure to bring better configurations in terms of the internals. With Android obviously the dominant name for operating systems, smartphone manufacturers will bring more attention to regular android updates. We also expect heightened security to reach consumers since 5G rollout is slated to commence late this year, although this will not yet be a main consideration for purchase.

The battle for the top spot in the smartphone department will benefit consumers even more, since this will mean that more brands are compelled to bring devices that are competitive despite an affordable price. With this, upcoming smartphones tagged at sub-PhP 10,000 are expected to carry an onboard storage of up to 128GB and even more. For the high-end smartphone department, it is very likely that we'll be seeing smartphones concealing 10GB of RAM, and who knows, by the end of this year, we'll also be welcoming smartphones running on 12GB of memory. Entry-level and low-end smartphones, on the other hand, are most likely to carry 3GB of RAM out of the box, from the usual 2GB of RAM.
Asian companies will also remain to be the top players in the smartphone market, with Chinese firms  bringing more powerful chipsets to the market. However, with even more players entering the competition to remove chipset dependence on Qualcomm, we’re expecting more fast processors sold at lower price points.

Better Cameras

With smartphone cameras clicking essential breakthroughs every year, we expect the year 2019 to be another year for camera-centric devices. With most manufacturers competing on how many cameras a device can hold, expect more smartphones to carry more than five cameras around second half of 2019.

Your smartphone right at your wrist

Another thing to watch out for this year is the emergence of wearables, particularly smartwatches. While most of these devices were introduced for fitness functions, this year, smartwatches are expected to deliver more, making them extensions of your smartphone. We’re looking forward to see more smartwatches that allow answering calls, quick message and email replies, and basically every simple thing that can be done using smartphones.

Start the year right

For consumers, it is always important to always seek for a worthy purchase no matter what the trend is. With e-commerce becoming a widely-used means of purchasing goods, every consumer must have a trustworthy go-to online store.

argomall

With a strong value for consumer trust and authenticity, Argomall is an online shopping hub which sell only authentic smartphones from brand manufacturers and official distributors. All products bought from Argomall always come with an official Philippine warranty, invoice, and receipt.

Counterpoint Research: Huawei Surpasses Apple to be the Second Largest Smartphone Brand

According to the latest research from Counterpoint’s Market Pulse for July 2017, Huawei Surpasses Apple to be the Second Largest Smartphone Brand in terms of in global smartphone sales for June and July. Strong august sale looks to be in favor for the Chinese vendor.

Discussing this key competitive development, Counterpoint’s Research Director Peter Richardson, notes, “This is a significant milestone for Huawei, the largest Chinese smartphone brand with a growing global presence. It speaks volumes for this primarily network infrastructure vendor on how far it has grown in the consumer mobile handset space in the last three to four years. The global scale Huawei has been able to achieve can be attributed to its consistent investment in R&D and manufacturing, coupled with aggressive marketing and sales channel expansion.”

Mr. Richardson adds, “While this streak could be temporary considering the annual iPhone refresh is just around the corner, it nevertheless underscores the rate at which Huawei has been growing. However, a weak presence in the South Asian, Indian and North American markets limits Huawei’s potential in the near-to mid-term to take a sustainable second place position behind Samsung. Huawei is over-dependent on its home market China where it enjoys the leadership position and operator-centric markets in Europe, Latin America and Middle East.”

On future prospects and other findings, Counterpoint’s Associate Director, Tarun Pathak, notes, “The growth of Chinese brands is an important trend which no player in the mobile ecosystem can ignore. Chinese brands with their dominant position in key markets such as China, Europe, Asia and Latin America have restricted the growth prospects for leading global brands such as Samsung and Apple. Chinese brands are growing swiftly thanks not only to smartphone design, manufacturing capability and rich feature sets, but also by out-smarting and out-spending rivals in sales channels, go-to-market and marketing promotion strategies.”

Mr Pathak, adds, “Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi have successfully gained access to key supply chain partners, which has allowed them to launch designs with bezel-free, full displays, Augmented Reality, in-house chipsets and advanced camera features, that have kept them toe-to-toe with rivals. These players have become as equally important as Samsung or Apple to the global supply chain, application developers and distribution channels, as they continue to grow in scale more rapidly than the incumbent market share leaders.”

Commenting on the best-selling models in the month of July, Senior Analyst, Pavel Naiya highlighted, “Apple continued to drive its flagship momentum with iPhone 7 & 7 Plus; still the world’s best-selling models. OPPO has been one of the fastest growing brands globally thanks to the popularity of models including the flagship OPPO R11 and the mid-tier OPPO A57 that captured third and fourth spots respectively. These were followed by Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X and Samsung Galaxy S8+. Apple’s 32GB refresh of the venerable iPhone 6 enabled it to regain momentum during the month, with popularity across prepaid markets to edge out Samsung’s Galaxy J7.

Best-Selling Models
Mr Naiya, added. “While Huawei climbed to be the world’s second largest brand overall, it is surprising to see none of its models breaking into the top ten rankings. This is due to a multiple SKU portfolio that currently lacks a true hero device. While having a diverse portfolio allows Huawei to fight on multiple fronts, it does little to build overall brand recognition; something Huawei badly needs if it is continue to gain share. While Huawei has trimmed its portfolio, it likely needs to further streamline its product range like Oppo and Xiaomi have done – putting more muscle behind fewer products.”
