Nokia and Xiaomi Teams Up! Business Cooperation plus Patent Agreements.

Nokia and Xiaomi sign business cooperation and patent agreements including a cross license to each company's cellular standard essential patents. Xiaomi also acquired patent assets from Nokia as part of the transaction.

"Xiaomi is one of the world's leading smartphone manufacturers and we are delighted to have reached an agreement with them," said Rajeev Suri, President & CEO of Nokia. Under the business cooperation agreement, Nokia will provide network infrastructure equipment designed to deliver the high capacity and low power requirements. Nokia and Xiaomi will work together on optical transport solutions for datacenter interconnect, IP Routing based on Nokia's new FP4 network processor, and a data center fabric solution. In addition, the companies are seeking to explore opportunities in areas such as Internet of Things, augmented and virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.

Xiaomi unleashes its Mi4

The Mi4 is beautifully crafted with combination precision made steel frame and strong polycarbonate plastic for its back. Materials used is definitely for a flagship phone and comes with room for customization.

Its Display sports 5 inch 1080p resolution made by either Sharp / Japan Display Inc. (JDI) and employs OGS lamination technology. No word on whether it has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 but I am pretty sure it does pack a shatter proof on top. If you should know, OnePlus One smartphone also has JDI Display though TOL (Touch On Lens) is used which is almost same as OGS but is more resilient and tough.

Xiaomi Hongmi 1s - More Powerful Budget

Look what I stumbled on, Xiaomi Hongmi 1S. A more powerful budget upgrade of RedMi.

At the glance, it is really just the same phone except it comes with a powerful upgrade.

It retains the 4.7 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS Retina Display by Sharp / AUO (Apple supplier) with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 which is pretty much great with ~312 ppi pixel density providing you with strong and great visuals right off the bat.

The major change is the chipset where Mediatek Turbo got the boot in exchange to Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 clocked at 1.6GHz coupled with Adreno 305 graphics. Memory is at 1GB RAM and Internal storage gone up to 8GB that also comes with microSD card slot for expansion. This should put it against Moto G.

You also get precision optics equipped with 8MP Samsung / OV Back-Illuminated Auto Focus Rear Camera (ƒ/2.2 aperture, 28mm wide angle, and zero shutter lag) with LED Flash that also records Full HD 1080p video as well as 1.3MP Front-facing camera.

Usual connectivity like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G HSPA. USB OTG is also supported. Powering it is a 2000mAh Battery.
