Bluboo S8 Review Budget 18:9 Full View Smartphone Specs Price Philippines

Here is our review of Bluboo S8! Budget 5.7 inch 18:9 Smartphone

Bluboo S8
We are welcomed with a black box labelled with Bluboo and S8 branding. Opening it up, we are presented with the Bluboo S8 unit then an envelope containing manuals, tpu case, and tempered glass. Inside also is also found charger, usb cable but NO headset here although you do get an USB Type-C Adapter to 3.5mm jack.

Bluboo S8 Package
The Bluboo S8 design aesthetics clearly mimics that of samsung latest flagship. Elegant curves, slim profile and good built. It was a surprise when supposed S9 renders were leaked out and turn out to be similar to Bluboo S8. Anyways moving on, at the top lies the hybrid sim/microsd tray while on the either side is found the volume rocker and power button. At the bottom part is the USB-Type C port, speaker and mic. This all is housed in a body made in ZN-Ti Alloy for durability. Back features a CD effect that creates unique design accent.

Bluboo S8 Sides

The 5.7 inch Full Display at 18:9 HD+ resolution protected with 2.5 Curved gorilla Glass 4 gives wide, rich viewing pleasures that is fit for entertainment and games. It is also brighter and good sunlit legibility.

Powering the device is Mediatek MT6750T Octa-Core Processor matched with 3GB RAM and 32GB Internal Storage (with at leasst 24GB available for uuser disposal). Antutu Benchmark has a rating of 41445 which is good enough for seemless android experience. We tested NBA 2K18 but we found frame drops at high settings and so it would be advisable medium for heavy games. As for online games, ML, AOV and the runs fine at default settings.

Bluboo S8 Camera
As for camera, it features dual rear camera with 13MP Sony IMX135 Exmor f/2.0 aperture RS plus 3MP. Front Camera is at 8MP but is software interpollated. Basic Camera modes and effects are available like Slow-Mo, Timelapse, Panorama as well as Video. For Selfies, there is a FaceCute Feature that adds stickers and beautification. Here are samples:

Sadly, Bluboo fails to use properly the Sony IMX sensor and camera algorhythms are flawed and such rear outputs lacks proper exposure. Front camera takes better photos.

Bluboo S8 Camera UI
Runs on Android 7.0 topped with 360UI that offers gesture controls, Anti-Theft and other management controls. Since it is Mediatek, Miravision technology has been employed.

360 UI
For connectivity, Bluboo S8 covers the regular set from WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. Eventhough it is USB-Type C, USB OTG is NOT Supported. Connection of headset is also via same USB port so can't listen while you charge. Bummer. Sensors are also lacking as gyroscope is absent thereby not supporting Augmented Reality feature and games. Does have Fingerprint sensor but sometimes it fails to recognize so make sure you wipe it clean.

Comes with 3450mAh Battery. Battery life is just good considering its modest specifications that willlast you a day of moderate use but if you are a gamer, better get powerbank for good measure. Charging takes 2 and a half hours.

At a price of 7,499, Bluboo S8 is worth considering for its 18:9 Full View Display, Mediatek MT6750T Processor. However, the majordownside of Bluboo S8 is its camera. Hopefully BluBoo Philippines will do an update to make use of the camera sensor.

Come in Blue and Black color options and is available at Lazada Philippines.
