Beauty is one key characteristic from Huawei Flagship as they say "looks can kill" with its Glass Panel back made with 7-layer surface treatment using a micro-pattern design. Don't be fooled by its 6.5mm waist, slim packs some heavy artillery. The design and built is surely commendable that not only for aesthetics but also for function.

Powering the device is Huawei own HiSilicon Kirin 910T Quad-Core Processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Mali-450MP4 GPU. Though it is just Cortex A9, the chipset uses 28nm manufacturing that runs cooler than that of P6 and with a more capable GPU, Android KitKat runs smoothly. It also packs abundant memory with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage (comes with microSD expansion slot).

Xiaomi Hongmi 1s - More Powerful Budget

Look what I stumbled on, Xiaomi Hongmi 1S. A more powerful budget upgrade of RedMi.

At the glance, it is really just the same phone except it comes with a powerful upgrade.

It retains the 4.7 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS Retina Display by Sharp / AUO (Apple supplier) with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 which is pretty much great with ~312 ppi pixel density providing you with strong and great visuals right off the bat.

The major change is the chipset where Mediatek Turbo got the boot in exchange to Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 clocked at 1.6GHz coupled with Adreno 305 graphics. Memory is at 1GB RAM and Internal storage gone up to 8GB that also comes with microSD card slot for expansion. This should put it against Moto G.

You also get precision optics equipped with 8MP Samsung / OV Back-Illuminated Auto Focus Rear Camera (ƒ/2.2 aperture, 28mm wide angle, and zero shutter lag) with LED Flash that also records Full HD 1080p video as well as 1.3MP Front-facing camera.

Usual connectivity like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G HSPA. USB OTG is also supported. Powering it is a 2000mAh Battery.

Overall, Hongmi 1s gives super bang for buck. Xiaomi provides all the best at way way down price.

Spotted: Samsung Galaxy K Zoom

The new Samsung Galaxy K Zoom camera phone has been spotted!

It looks like S4 at front and has S5 perforated dotted back design. Samsung also made away the camera grip that was on the previous zoom which should shed few inches off its waist and would be considered a camera phone.

The Galaxy K Zoom sports a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is a nice update to 4.3 inch qHD display on the previous zoom.  Powering the device is Hexa-Core Exynos 5260 (1.3 GHz Quad-core Cortex A7 & 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Cortex A15) which should provide more powerful performance than that of the galaxy camera and original zoom. Graphics is provided by Mali-T624 GPU coupled with 2GB RAM and 8GB Internal Storage. For sure you need more storage space, so Samsung graciously provided microSD slot that supports up to 64GB.

You do get arsenal of connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and MHL-supported MicroUSB port. For Data needs, LTE will provide high speed connectivity so sharing and uploading your outputs is a snap. Battery is at 2430mAh.

Finally, we move it to its major feature - the camera that is a 20.7 MP Auto/Manual Focus 1/2.3'' BSI sensor with 10x optical zoom (24-240mm) and Optical Image Stabilization. Comes with Xenon flash for a more improved lighting for low light captures. Various Modes which includes Pro Suggest, Program, Beauty Face, Shot & More, Panorama, Virtual Tour, HDR, Night, Continuous Shot, Selfie Alarm, Manual and Many more. It also have 2MP front for skype and video-chats. It shoots Full HD 1080p@60fps video recording.

Overall, the new Galaxy Zoom K is great improvement to the S4 Zoom and Galaxy Camera in terms of display and internal hardware though can't say much for camera output because it is likely adjusted to pack more pixels and features plus the Xenon Flash. Wished they had put the ISOCELL technology, the one on the S5, it will surely make a difference.

Anyways, if you are getting one then head on over to Villman (see here) priced for 24,990 Pesos.

Starmobile Roar!!!

Starmobile R stands for Roar!!! Here's what it looks like. The Gold lining is very appealing but wished they applied it to the back housing.
The device will have 4.5 inch FWVGA Display and will be powered by 1.3GHz Mediatek 6582 Quad-Core Processor with Mali-400 GPU. Sadly only 512MB of RAM with 4GB Internal Storage that can be expanded via microSD slot.

For its camera, it does pack 8MP back camera with Flash and also have a 2MP Front camera. Though in the photos 5MP so it seems there's some magic interpolation going on.

Connectivity will be the regular WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ for data.

Battery is at only 1750mAh. You still get decent battery life considering the low resolution to work with.

Other features are Noise Cancellation, Wave Controls and it supports USB OTG. Additional features (ehem, bloatwares) like Clean Master, Pop Out Video, QR Scanner, Save Spirit, and among others.

Benchmarks courtesy of Facebook  User Jodi Perlta.
Big Shout out to the guys of Facebook Group Starmobile Roar (Official)

It cores 17K in Antutu... Not Bad, MT6582 is better chipset for entry level to midrange. Roar has only 2 touch points so if your into multi-touch games then this one is not for you.

As Starmobile puts it "Innovative features in a strikingly gorgeous handset." We must admit it does look good and packs additional features though at it's price 4,690.00, you might be swayed and see what the other brands offer at that price. RAM is major issue such that competition has 1GB against ROAR 512MB. But it runs on Android KitKat which is optimized to run on small amount of memory so still fluid and smooth but you may lag with more Apps running on the same time. Beauty is great but seems it has so-so intelligence to multitask. It's more a Growl than a Roar.

GReview: Asus Fonepad 2014

Delivery! It's the Asus Fonepad 2014... No I did not get it from Asus so don't think this is a sponsored post.
To begin with, the new 2014 Asus Fonepad is better designed with its thinner bezel that helps for one-hand use. The Dotted-Patterned Back (FE170CG) has nice feel to it and does not attract fingerprints but be sure to have microfiber to clean it once in a while cause when dirt gets between the dots, its hard to clean. FE175CG gets a more metallic brushed back housing.

The device packs a 7 inch WSVGA (1024 X 600 pixels) LED Backlight Display. It's not HD but it delivers good amounts of brightness and vibrant colors. Anti-Fingerprint coating was applied however still iit gets smudges.

Zen UI is LOVE!!! The simplicity is beautiful and it flows smooth, Zen. The Notification bar is very organized from quick settings toggles and notifications. Added features like Do it Later and Whats next is best for organizing your schedules and to do list.

Powering the Fonepad is Intel Atom Dual-Core Z2520 Processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU. If you think it is under-powered thenthink again because it might not be Quad-Core but it is Quad-Threaded and supports Hyper-Threading that matches performance of some other quad-core chipsets. You also get 1GB RAM and 4GB Internal Storage that can be expanded via MicroSD slot. Actually there are two variants available the FE170CG (4GB) and FE175 (8GB).

See Antutu scored 15K which is comparable to other tablets.

The Gallery and Camera has also been modified by Asus. The Gallery can be sorted by your liking showing, by default it is by Album showing the latest picture for that album. Turbo Mode and other modes and effects awaits you. Though it must be noted that they also enhanced he vibrancy of colors taken by the camera. Two variants differ where FE170CG gets 3MP Back Camera and VGA Front while FE175CG gets 5MP/1.2MP.

The Best thing of all... Call and Messaging Facility plus HSPA+  data connectivity with Uploads at 5.76Mbps and Download at 42Mbps. This what separates the Fonepad from the rest. Dont worry, you also get the regulars as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Battery is at 3950mAh, with 10 hrs of battery life. Believe me it does last longer than other tablets. From this fonepad to my transformer t100, Asus really shines on this category.

To conclude, the new Asus Fonepad 2014 is a feature packed Tablet with Phone Capabilities. It offers you good display, quality internal hardware, unique interface, great battery, and phone capabilities at a price of only 5,999.00 (4GB) (half of what Samsung Tab 3 with 3G cost) and 8,999 (8GB) . The Asus Fonepad is a BESTBUY!!!

Spotted: Asus Zenfone 5

Look what we have here... Asus Zenfone 5 appears!

Zen is the major focus and inspiration for the design and same goes to User Interface for the Zen Series. From the back it is just simple and yet at the front comes with a metallic accent.

The Zenfone 5 sports a 5 inch HD IPS Display powered by 2GHz  1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2580 Z2560 Dual Core Quad-Threaded Processor that support Hyper-Threading Technology. Don't underestimate it for having just Dual-Core, it performs very well and is competitive with quad-core from other chipset makers. Memory is at 1GB 2GB RAM and Internal Storage is at 8GB/16GB that can be expanded via MicroSD slot.

Connectivity features includes WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Data connectivity is higher bandwidth HSPA+ up to 42Mbps for download and 5.76 Mbps for uploads.

For its optics, it is equipped with 8MP primary back snapper with Flash and 2MP front. Additional camera enhancement and features courtesy of Asus PixelMaster.

Battery is at 2050mAh. If I may add, Asus has good reputation in this category for all its handsets.

We welcome the penetration of Asus to the Mobile scene bringing their unique twist in terms of design, experience, and their hardware for their Zenfones especially with irresistible price tag.
