Lenovo S650: Shinny but Pricy

Lenovo unleashes the S650 with tag line "a little chrome. a lot of attention." and if I may add a Price tag that bites.

The S650 sports a 4.7 inch qHD (not QuadHD) Display as suggested by the picture. Its innards shows a updated 1.3GHz Mediatek 6582 Quad-Core Processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage (expandable). So far its quite competitive with what other competitor has.

In terms of imaging, it packs a 8MP primary camera and a VGA front. On the side of connectivity it offers just the basic WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+. Battery is at 2000mAh.

Device is measured at 138 x 8.77 x 69.8 mm and weighs 125g.

In as much as I am confident with the Lenovo Brand which should assure you quality products. However, with tons of other products from local brands with the same specifications they should price their wares competitively. Lets see if they will sell their supply if not for sure it will soon get a hefty price cut. Oh Price is 9,999.00

Well if your up for it then the device is now available at nearest Lenovo Dealer.

Spotted: Samsung Note 3 Neo Not so SPensive

Samsung has introduce its not so SPensive Galaxy Note 3 Neo last January. This Neo Iteration of the Note 3 is a cut on price as well as specs from the original Note 3 but retaining the leather-like executive look, the SPen and pen-features.

The Note 3 Neo comes in a 5.5 inch HD AMOLED Display release in two variants LTE+ and 3G. Powered by either hexa-core processor (Exynos 5260 two 1.7GHz A15 cores and four 1.3GHz A7 cores) or 1.6GHz quad-core processor from Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8228. Processors is complimented with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD Slot.

With regards to other specifications, it is equipped with 8MP/2MP camera combo and yes it has flash on the rear. Moreover it provides the arsenal of connectivity from WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and also IR Blaster.

Measuring at 148.4 x 77.4 x 8.6mm and weighs only at 162.5 grams. Packs a 3100mAh battery and to get that Noteable experience it is compatible with the Galaxy Gear.

The Note 3 Neo is worth considering especially those whose saving has not reach the Note 3 price. Surely a little downgrade but in essence you still get the look, feel as well as features.

Quite timely, a friend is looking for the likes of this and for sure I would recommend this baby if the price is right.

Update!!! Spotted it is carrying a price tag of 27,990! Yikes seems just a thousand less than the Note 3. Well anyways you can see for yourself if you are gonna get it or not. It wll be the one with Snapdragon MSM8228 3G/HSPA+ variant

Cherry Mobile Hero: Save-ior?

Cherry Mobile Hero gets posted on Cherry Mobile Website and Thailand website (see here). Much has been known about this smartphone but is now finally showing some skin.

The Hero will sports a 5 inch qHD TFT display powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Processor which is supported by 1GB RAM and 4GB Internal Storage (yes, expandable). Camera is at 8MP Rear supported by Flash and 2MP for Front. Considering at this level of the playing field, it should have WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS connectivity. Battery is at 1600mAh and following what the flyer will tel us that it is sold at 5,499.00

So far not word on what processor it possess (hopefully newer Mediatek) and camera is to say interpolated as dictated 5MP on picture then 8MP on paper... Guess your wonder why not HD? Points to remember is that display resolution plays part in fluidity of the device such that a lower resolution gives less stress to the processor. In the Hero case, with a Quad-Core Processor and at only qHD it will definitely give you lesser lag experience and also it wont wear down battery that much. It is to say budget so might lesser some expectation or just cough up a few bucks to get more display, battery or anything upgrade that suits your liking.

To sum it all, its worth considering for its price and ware... February is fast approaching and this baby should be just around the corner.

Specs Summary
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
5.0 inches qHD TFT Display

Cherry Mobile Titan PRO: Professionally Done?

Cherry Mobile Titan goes PRO...

The Titan line becomes PRO with it built in stylus or to say G-Pen as Cherry Mobile puts it. In the looks department it kinda resembles Amber ...

Update: It is priced at 10,999.00!!! - Trusted Source and Supplier.

My thoughts is that this handset would just be an update where it packs a 1.3GHz Mediatek 6582 Quad Core Processor, 1GB RAM and hmmm just 4GB internal maybe... for sure that 12MP will be supported with flash and as the picture suggest has a front camera. Oh being in the Titan line I would expect a bigger battery. Stylus? hmmm just capacitive... HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS for connectivity.

Seems I'm on track on my predictions on said specs of this device but I'm quite disappointed with the use of Mediatek 6589 processor but then again with a 5 inch OGS HD Display with Dragontrail protection surely it trumps the first stylus android by a local brand (see here) in the display department with great viewing pleasures as well as resistance to scratches that's great for using a capacitive stylus on.

The seemingly not-so-new Mediatek processor is supported by 1 GB RAM and and 4GB Internal Storage (expandable) and if that's not enough the device supports USB-OTG (Finally!).With regards to connectivity, it does pack the basic trend of today - WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and improved HSPA+ (42Mbps). Yeah, No LTE here people.

On the imaging perspective it offers 12MP AF rear and 2MP FF front camera combo with Flash. Battery is only at 2150 mah which for me is a little disappointed cause I expected a bigger battery from a Titan.

Interesting enough Cherry Mobile is improving its line up offering great hardware and finally software is catching up. Though it might be pricier 10,999.00 vs the Arc Mobile Memo at only 6,299.00, The Titan Pro shows some class with its better display, improved HSPA+ and USB-OTG that for me completes the Phablet experience. Definitely Professionally Done.

Its Official: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite

Galaxy Tab 3 goes Lite... Samsung has unveiled its budget tablet in the form of Galaxy Tab 3 Lite 7.0. As the name suggest it still is to say a shadow of Tab 3. Most notably it retains 7 inch screen at WSVGA resolution (1024x600). The device is also powered 1.2GHz Dual-Core Marvell PXA986 Processor, Vivante GC1000 GPU coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB Internal storage expandable via MicroSD of course.

Same goes with regards to connectivity - WiFi, Bluetooth GPS plus GLONASS and will also come in WiFi or 3G (HSPA+) models.

What's left out is in the imaging side, cause it is only equipped with 2MP REAR! snapper; no video calls here people. Other difference? The battery from 4000mAh down to only 3600mAh (seriously?).

It's good thing really for Samsung to go Lite for which it offers the Samsung Experience to mass market. Hopefully they will price this one competitively because we have seen many local and international players release at very steep prices that also offers decent hardware and features as well.

Update: Its here and its price at 7,490.00!!! Its the cheapest tablet offering from Samsung yet. So if your cautious on local brands offering then surely this one is for you!

Weighing only 236g at 7.9mm thick - the light and slim Lenovo S5000 Tablet.

On the looks alone, you will get attracted to this tablet. It gives that sexy and exceptional premium Vibe as well as light as a feather (lighter than Nexus 7 and Asus MemoPad HD 7). It houses a 7 inch WXGA (1280 x 800) IPS LCD Display pretty much give you crisp and clear viewing pleasures.

Under the hood, the device is powered by 1.2GHz A7 Mediatek Processor (Mediatek MT8125 or MT8389 it differs for WiFi and 3G version) coupled with PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU with 1GB RAM and 16GB Internal Storage. Seems to be at par with the competition.

For camera features it has a 5MP primary and  1.6MP front  for your social media imaging, selfying and video-chat needs.

With regards to connectivity, you have an option to buy the WiFi or the 3G model... To whatever you choose it is important to note that it covers the basic WiFi and Bluetooth plus it also supports USB-OTG.

At 3400mAh, you will surely enjoy long hours of DOing things. haha

To conclude, this is a very notable tablet for its slim, sexy and awesome looks but also packs the necessary hardware without the heavy fat (no offense).

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra: 6 Incher Ultra Phablet

Here is another Phablet from Sony - the Xperia T2 Ultra.

The T2 Ultra is to say the 2nd younger brother of the Z Ultra. The device packs 6 inch Triluminos display with HD Resolution (720x1280) and is powered with a much lower Snapdragon 400 Quad Core Processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Memory is at 1GB and Phone Storage is 8GB with microSD expansion slot up to 32GB.

On the upside, its surprisingly equipped with a 13MP Exmor RS primary snapper (Z Ultra has 8MP only) which according to the manufacturer is best-in-class. For its front it is also equipped with 1.1MP Exmor R Camera so it does give you more decent selfies. Another thing, the presence of Flash is greatly appreciated such that Z Ultra lacks.

In terms of connectivity, Sony really does not disappoint such that it packs its products with almost everything. For T2 Ultra is does pack LTE, NFC, surely WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. Oh it will comes in a Dual-Sim Variant and it has 3000mAh battery.

So far so good. For a tad reduce in size and hardware, the Xperia T2 Ultra is still a Win-Win 6 incher with a better camera sensor and has flash as well as still packing LTE and NFC. Its not a flagship but shines like one.

Sony says it is a mid-range and more or less cost $546 (22K-25K PHP maybe).

Cherry Mobile Superion Core: All-In TabletaPhone

Cherry Mobile made available the Superion Core Tablet with Phone Functionality.

The Superion Core sports a 7 inch HD IPS Display powered by 1.2GHz Mediatek MT8389 Processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU complimented with 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

On the imaging side, you wont be disappointed cause it comes with 5MP primary camera and 2MP front. Flash is there so at least it will help brighten up your captures as well as serve as a flashlight.

I would like to point out that the main selling point of the Superion Core is that it offers HSPA+ connectivity.Naturally, the device also comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Battery Pack is at 3500mAh.

So far I have seen tablets with phone function but they only have 512MB RAM and only offers 3G. With the Superion Core, Cherry Mobile sets the bar high for "TabletaPhone" (as I call it) with HSPA+ and more up to date hardware and imaging. Setting New Standards and also Available to the Masses Superion Core shows superiority at 6,499 Pesos.

Phablet and Tablet Goes Pop by Alcatel

The POP line of Alcatel just got bigger... with POP 7, POP 8, and POP C9... POP POP

The POP Tablet line are entry level devices with POP 7 and POP 8 incher. Obviously as their name suggest they will have 7 inch TFT (1024x600) and 8 inch IPS LCD (1280x800) display. They also differ with the Mediatek Processor used as MT8312 (Dual-Core) for POP7 and MT8382 (Quad-Core) for the POP 8. However they do share some qualities... let me discuss further.

Both POP siblings share connectivity and imaging features. WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and optional 3G and IR Blaster (Uhh TV!!!) is a great way to go for an all-in and stay connected device. On the optical side, they do have 2MP primary rear camera and a VGA front for regular photos for social media.

The POP 7 does has a 3240 mAh and POP 8 has a 4100 mAh battery pack.

We have notable entry level tablets here focusing well on innards as well as connectivity with 3G and IR Blaster. Alcatel is showing what it can offer.

Another thing to POP about is the POP C9 Phablet. Last Year, Alcatel outs the POP C5 in the Philippines offering bigger screen at low price (hot item)  and now it crossed over to the Phablet arena (hopefully they price it competitively).

The POP C9 offers 5.5 inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) IPS LCD Display powered by 1.3GHz Quad-Core Mediatek Processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 4GB Internal Storage.

For its optics, it does have an 8MP rear with Flash and 2MP front shooter. Battery pack is at 2500 mAh. It is also safe to say it will have the regular WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G/HSPA+. By the way, it Dual-Sim

One thing to note is that a local phone company (see here) offers similar specs at very competitive pricing and may have already captured the target market of the POP C9. Alcatel should release it sooner than later to play catch up.

On the flip side, Alcatel is really good pairing their devices with flip covers and accessories upon purchase a big bonus for consumers.

Huawei Unveils Ascend Mate 2: Still Massive

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 goes official. Following the success of the first Mate with heavy duty battery life and great voice quality, the New Mate 2 comes with slur of upgrades.

The Ascend Mate 2 retains its 6.1 inch "eHD" display but it will be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (LTE models) or improved Huawei's own Hi-Silicon (HSPA+ models) Quad-Core Processor. A great improvement would be the GPU which was to say the Achilles heel of the first Mate, with Adreno 306 (Snapdragon) or Mali (Hi-Silicon) GPUs it will pretty much handle your gaming needs. Memory will post no a problem at 2GB RAM (hopefully for Philippines market) and 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion slot. Changes in the innards especially with the processor and GPU is welcome upgrade for Ascend Mate to succeed.

In the imaging side, the cameras on front and back has been improved. The primary rear camera is now a 13MP snapper at f/2.0, 28mm lens and a Sony sensor a that. The front is also a surprise with a 5MP, f/2.4 with 1.4µm pixels - UltraPixel (HTC?). Seems Huawei is experimenting on sensors, interesting.

LTE is finally here, this was to say another thing people clamor for. The massive 4050 mAh battery is to say the Ascend Mate's shinning moment even normal or heavy use, the device stands day or two without charging.

In conclusion, for a Mate user like me I would definitely go for the Mate 2 upgrade. "eHD" resolution is to say decent but a pumped up processor, gpu, optics and added LTE is a great improvement of an already great device. Hope it arrives sooner than later.

Oh another thing to get excited about is Multi-Screen and Windows 8 Tile-like "Simple UI" by Huawei.

Cherry Mobile Omega XL: Phablet I should have not missed.

With the bustling weeks of the holiday season, I kinda missed out this quite large offering by Cherry Mobile - The Omega XL. As it's name suggest OhMega XL, Big and packs a punch.

The Omega XL sports a 6 inch qHD Display with Asahi Dragontrail Glass. The deviced is powered by 1.2GHz Quad Core Mediatek MTK6582 Processor in this case Mali-400MP GPU coupled with 1GB RAM and 4GB Internal Storage (don't worry expandable via MicroSD). It is not HD but with qHD resolution and quad-core at heart is a great tandem for smoother and fluid performance.

So far with the smartphone today connectivity is common to say WiFi, Bluetooth and HSPA it also goes with GPS, to say the normal stuff.

In terms of imaging, it does packs a 13MP BSI Camera with Flash and 8MP front camera also with Flash. You know what to do with those I am sure haha.

Overall, at 7,999.00 its quite a steal already considering its a 6" with quad core hardware and stuff. Just try holding it first before buying to know if you into Big Phones.

For what I've heard seems stock is hard to come by.

If your looking

Nokia Lumia 1320: Gentle Giant

We might be seeing yet another Windows Phone 8 phone - the Nokia Lumia 1320.

Just got released in China for the start of the year - it is high time to give Android Phablets stiff competition. Let me discuss further more.

To start off, the new Lumia 1320 is targeted at budget phablet market. It's 6 inch IPS LCD HD Gorilla Glass 3 Display with Clear Black polarizer as well as Super Touch Sensitivity and high refresh rate (did I get it all?) will surely undermine its competition. Just with the display it shows how serious Nokia to get some ground.

In terms of innards, at its core is a Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7GHz paired with Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB Internal Storage. The hardware is just right and you wont be limited in terms of apps because of the RAM requirement.

Packing 5MP primary camera supported with Flash and VGA
camera is to say decent for your imaging needs but I will say this Nokia works wonders in this department even in low light condition and the absence carl zeiss. With Nokia Camera gives you basic to advance manual settings and surely makes a major difference. Throw in Nokia Cinemagraph you will also get a wonderful experience capturing moments in action.

Connectivity wise the Lumia 1320 does have WiFi, Bluetooth and LTE (compatible with Globe and Smart frequencies). It also has a bigger battery at 3400 mAh which will give you more days of fun and games.

Finally it has the latest software build with Nokia Lumia Black installed with 3 columns for live tile that perfectly compliments the big hd display. Oh by the way since its Windows phone you do get the Office suite which is to say uniquely for Windows Phones.

So far it has not been release in the Philippines but as it is started to sell in China (ehem Hong Kong) we might see it soon via online shops. Per one online shop it will start to sell at around 17,155.00 PHP (note: online shops price differ from retail price) so it will definitely compete with Phablets offerings of local and international brands bringing LTE, Standout Display, Windows Phone 8 Experience, Nokia Optical capabilities and Bigger Better Battery Life... Need I say more?

SRP is at 17,900.00 Pesos!!!

Nokia 1320 arrives unofficially via DBGadgets and WidgetCity at only 15,300.00!!!

Cherry Mobile brings Flare to 2.1... Really?

Here is yet another Flare the 2.1.

Yes, that's right another Quad Core offering at 4K. The Flare 2.1 will sport the same 4 inch WVGA Display. It is powered by Snapdragon Quad Core MSM8225Q Processor (seen this before) so therefore Adreno 203 GPU (What!!!) with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage.

Connectivity, like usual the WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G/HSPA. No change there.

Hmm did I forget anything... Oh optics at 5MP  Rear with Flash and VGA Front... and measly 1600 mAh...

Nothing notable about the 2.1. It's just a fine upgrade for those coming Flare 2.0 to get bigger RAM. It's best suited for first time android users or when your looking for a capable social media second handset. The Flare 2.1 is a new suit that blends in with the Flare line to fill up the grey areas.
